The nose is extremely aromatic with notes of fresh tarragon and dried grass followed by exotic fruit aromas of guava, lime, and ripe pineapple. Full-bodied and silky in texture with just the perfect brightness to amplify a well-married palate of white peach and passion fruit, all balanced by a long and pleasingly dry, flinty finish.
In the glass the wine has pale colors of light greenish-gold. The nose is extremely aromatic and has a mélange of fruit and herbal notes – guava, freshly mowed hay, green apple, tarragon and linden flowers. In the mouth, bright flavors of green melon, elderberry, pear and kiwi are balanced by a long, full and pleasingly dry, flinty finish.
With the 2019 harvest, things returned to a more normal schedule in Alexander Valley with a long, even growing season, good fruit set and ample rainfall. This year Block 3, our 46-year old Sauvignon Blanc, had 40% lower yields which greatly contributed to aromatics and fruit concentration. We love how expressive the old vine heritage clone comes through so clearly in this wine with its distinctive hint of earthiness and exotic fruit aromas.

Our Sauvignon Blanc grapes are grown on richer, loamier soils for better canopy protection and distinct varietal aromas and flavors. To preserve its vibrant fruit flavors, 100% free-run-juice was stainless-steel fermented at cool temperatures with a select yeast strain to enhance Sauvignon Blanc aromatics with 2 - 3 hours of skin contact time. Post-fermentation, the wine spent four months in neutral oak barrels with light lees contact to improve mouthfeel.
