2016 Los Cuatro
The 2016 vintage started early and warm and ended up beautifully for Eco Terreno, especially for our later ripening red grapes. As always, cool fog in the morning cleared to sunny skies by early afternoon with temperatures soaring up into the high 90°s F and then quickly cooling off following sunset. Temperature swings of ± 40° F, which is great for Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot, created greater depth of flavor. Our Los Cuatro is a proprietary blend that gives a nod to the Alexander Valley’s Hispanic heritage. Comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and a touch of Petit Verdot this wine offers a delicious mélange of savory and sweet flavors in a luxurious package.
Los Cuatro has an opaque purple color, with a bright purple rim. Aromas of black currant, molasses, blueberry compote are balanced by notes of dried sage and chicory. Lush flavors of ripe black cherry and dark chocolate, blackberry yield a juicy wine that is fruit-forward yet balanced. The finish is lingering and pleasantly dry with intriguing savory notes. Enjoyable now and over the next 3 years.
